In short: The Lex A5024 is a 1-foot adapter that lets you power TRUE1® equipment from a grey powerCON® outlet. It has a 20A grey powerCON connector on one end and a 20A powerCON TRUE1 female connector on the other, joined by #12/3 SJOOW cord. It is rated 20A at 125V AC, single-phase (hot, neutral, ground).

Bridge old and new

Why do you need a powerCON Grey to TRUE1 adapter?

Plenty of power strips, distro and fixture link outputs still use original grey powerCON®, while newer fixtures take power through a powerCON TRUE1 inlet. The two systems are keyed differently and won't plug into each other. The A5024 bridges that gap, so your existing grey powerCON power sources can feed new TRUE1 gear.

Power new TRUE1 gear

Feed fixtures with TRUE1 inlets from grey powerCON outlets without replacing your distro or rebuilding cables.

Premium Neutrik connectors

Genuine Neutrik powerCON and powerCON TRUE1 connectors on both ends, the same locking hardware used across the industry.

Tough SJOOW cord

#12/3 SJOOW cord is oil resistant and rated for outdoor use, and the 12-gauge conductors carry the full 20A rating.

Short and tidy

A 1-foot length keeps the adapter right at the connection, with no extra cable to coil, dress or trip over.

Built to last

Durable materials and Lex construction hold up to repeated rigging, touring and rental use.

Made for live events

Lex builds it for theatrical, convention center and live event power, where mixed connector systems are common.

On set & on show

Where is the Lex A5024 adapter used?

Use the A5024 anywhere a grey powerCON power source needs to feed equipment with a TRUE1 power input:

  • New TRUE1 fixtures on power strips or distro with grey powerCON outputs
  • Daisy chains that link from an older fixture's grey powerCON output into a TRUE1 fixture
  • Rental and touring inventories that mix powerCON cable with TRUE1-equipped fixtures
  • Theatre electrics adding TRUE1 fixtures to an existing powerCON system
  • Convention centers and trade shows where house powerCON power meets client TRUE1 gear
  • Film and video sets running mixed-generation LED panels from one power system

Using it safely

How do you use the A5024 safely?

The TRUE1 end can be connected and disconnected under load. The original grey powerCON end can't, so make and break power at the TRUE1 end.

  1. Check the load. Keep the device's draw within 20A, within the breaker feeding the circuit, and within the rating of the grey powerCON outlet. Fixture link outputs often have a lower limit, so check the fixture's manual.
  2. Connect the grey end first. Insert the grey powerCON connector into the grey outlet and twist to lock, ideally with the source switched off.
  3. Plug in the TRUE1 end. Insert the TRUE1 female connector onto the device's TRUE1 inlet and twist to lock.
  4. Disconnect in reverse. Unplug the TRUE1 end first, then release and remove the grey powerCON connector.

Original powerCON connectors are not designed to be connected or disconnected under load. Follow your local code, venue rules and the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

Compatibility

What does the Lex A5024 work with?

Power flows from the grey powerCON end to the TRUE1 end. The grey connector only fits grey powerCON power-out outlets. It won't mate with blue powerCON power-in inlets, which are keyed differently on purpose.

Questions

Lex A5024 frequently asked questions

What does the Lex A5024 adapter do?

The Lex A5024 lets you power TRUE1 equipment from a grey powerCON outlet. It has a 20A grey powerCON connector on one end and a 20A powerCON TRUE1 female connector on the other, on 1 foot of #12/3 SJOOW cord, rated 20A at 125V AC.

Why is the powerCON connector grey?

On original powerCON, grey marks power coming out of a device or outlet and blue marks power going in. The A5024's grey connector takes power from a grey power-out outlet. It will not mate with blue powerCON inlets, which are keyed differently.

Can I plug or unplug the A5024 under load?

Only at the TRUE1 end. powerCON TRUE1 has breaking capacity and can be connected or disconnected under load, but original grey powerCON connectors cannot. Connect the grey end first, then plug in the TRUE1 end, and unplug the TRUE1 end first when you disconnect.

Can I use the A5024 to daisy-chain from a powerCON fixture into a TRUE1 fixture?

Yes. Plug the grey end into the first fixture's grey powerCON link output and the TRUE1 end into the next fixture's TRUE1 inlet. Keep the total load on the chain within the first fixture's link output rating and the circuit's breaker rating.

What is the difference between the Lex A5024 and A5025?

They go in opposite directions. The A5024 takes power from a grey powerCON outlet and feeds a TRUE1 inlet. The A5025 takes power from a TRUE1 outlet and feeds a blue powerCON inlet.

What is the rating of the Lex A5024?

It is rated 20A at 125V AC, 60 Hz, single-phase with hot, neutral and ground, 2-pole and 3-wire.

What cord does the A5024 use?

It uses 1 foot of black #12/3 SJOOW cord. SJOOW cord is oil resistant and rated for outdoor use, and 12-gauge conductors carry the full 20A rating.
