In short: The Lex EverGrip A5037 is a 1-foot overmolded adapter that connects original powerCON® extension cables to a powerCON TRUE1® power source. It has an inline 20A powerCON TRUE1 male plug on one end and a molded 20A grey powerCON panel-mount receptacle on the other, joined by #12/3 SJOOW cord. It is rated 20A at 125V AC, single-phase (hot, neutral, ground).

Why EverGrip

Why choose the Lex EverGrip A5037 adapter?

If you've moved your distro or main cable runs to TRUE1, you probably still have a stack of good powerCON extensions. The A5037 lets you keep using them by joining a TRUE1 run to an original powerCON extension in line. Lex overmolds both ends, so there's no screw-together connector housing to work loose on the road.

In-line TRUE1 to powerCON

Joins powerCON® and powerCON TRUE1® extensions in line, so your existing powerCON cable inventory keeps working on a TRUE1 system.

Overmolded construction

An overmolded alternative to standard screw-together adapters, with rugged molding that won't deteriorate over the service life of the device.

Superior strain relief

Thermoplastic molding creates a permanent bond between the cable and connector for superior strain relief and secure termination.

Genuine Neutrik connectors

Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 on the plug end and a molded grey powerCON panel mount on the receptacle end.

Tough SJOOW cord

#12/3 SJOOW cord is oil resistant and rated for outdoor use, and the 12-gauge conductors carry the full 20A rating.

Built for production

Lex builds it for motion picture and TV production, theatrical, concert, touring and live event power.

On set & on show

Where is the Lex A5037 adapter used?

Use the A5037 anywhere a TRUE1 power source needs to feed an original powerCON extension cable:

  • TRUE1 distro feeding powerCON cable runs without re-terminating your existing extensions
  • Joining a TRUE1 extension to a powerCON extension to reach a fixture with a blue powerCON inlet
  • Rental and touring inventories moving to TRUE1 while keeping powerCON cable in service
  • Film and TV sets running mixed-generation LED fixtures from one power system
  • Concert and touring rigs where TRUE1 and powerCON gear share a truss
  • Theatre electrics transitioning to TRUE1 a few circuits at a time

Using it safely

How do you use the A5037 safely?

The TRUE1 end can be connected and disconnected under load. Original powerCON can't, so make and break power at the TRUE1 end.

  1. Check the load. Keep the total draw on the run within 20A and within the rating of the breaker feeding the circuit.
  2. Connect the powerCON side first. Plug the grey end of your powerCON extension into the A5037's grey panel mount and twist to lock, then connect the extension's blue end to the fixture.
  3. Plug in the TRUE1 end last. Insert the A5037's TRUE1 male plug into a TRUE1 outlet or female extension cable and twist to lock.
  4. Disconnect in reverse. Unplug the TRUE1 end first, then disconnect the powerCON connections.

Original powerCON connectors are not designed to be connected or disconnected under load. Follow your local code, venue rules and the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

Compatibility

What does the Lex A5037 work with?

Power flows from the TRUE1 plug to the grey powerCON panel mount. The grey panel mount works like a grey powerCON outlet: it accepts the grey power-in end of an original powerCON extension cable. It won't accept a blue powerCON connector, which is keyed differently on purpose.

Questions

Lex A5037 frequently asked questions

What does the Lex A5037 adapter do?

The Lex EverGrip A5037 connects an original powerCON extension cable to a powerCON TRUE1 power source. It has an inline 20A TRUE1 male plug on one end and a molded 20A grey powerCON panel-mount receptacle on the other, on 1 foot of #12/3 SJOOW cord, rated 20A at 125V AC.

What is the difference between the Lex A5037 and A5025?

Both take power from a TRUE1 outlet. The A5037 ends in a grey powerCON panel mount that accepts a powerCON extension cable. The A5025 ends in a blue powerCON connector that plugs straight into a fixture's blue powerCON inlet.

Why is the panel mount grey?

On original powerCON, grey marks a power-out connection and blue marks a power-in connection. The A5037's grey panel mount supplies power, so it accepts the grey power-in end of a powerCON extension cable. It will not accept a blue powerCON connector.

Can I plug or unplug the A5037 under load?

Only at the TRUE1 end. powerCON TRUE1 has breaking capacity and can be connected or disconnected under load, but original powerCON connectors cannot. Make your powerCON connections first, plug in the TRUE1 end last, and unplug the TRUE1 end first when you disconnect.

What is Lex EverGrip?

EverGrip is Lex's overmolded construction. Thermoplastic molding creates a permanent bond between the cable and connector, giving superior strain relief and a rugged build that won't deteriorate over the life of the device.

What is the rating of the Lex A5037?

It is rated 20A at 125V AC, 60 Hz, single-phase with hot, neutral and ground, 2-pole and 3-wire.

What cord does the A5037 use?

It uses 1 foot of black #12/3 SJOOW cord. SJOOW cord is oil resistant and rated for outdoor use, and 12-gauge conductors carry the full 20A rating.
